Weird...35? Where did it all go. I remember my 25th like it was yesterday. "Old people" used to always say, "remember these days...they'll fly by." Thinking they were words from a rambling older man or woman...such suggestions are always sluffed off.
But indeed, how true. I blinked...lived in three different states, another country, went to seminary, bought and sold four homes, worked a few different jobs, acquired some vehicles, and oh yeah, co labored in creating two offspring. WOW.
Lucky for me, someone taught me a while back about journaling and letter writing. I have a box of such which are memories and notes/letters to my sons and wife and various people. Who knows when they'll be delivered. Memories come and go. Certain things stick out to me more than they do Theresa. By writing them down, we get to see each others perspective. My biological father died when I was 2.5 yrs old. Three years ago I asked my mom if she had a note from him or if he had ever written anything about me. Sadly, she told me no. I only have his signature on a hunting license.
Then I determined I was going to do such for my sons. They probably will never know until they are adults. After I visit them at school, on their birthdays, special events, or when they say the crazy things they say...I am reminded to scribble those thoughts down.
Birthday blues? Nope. No real major regrets. I had a pimple today. I need to do a lot more push ups. I am thankful for where God has placed me and the life he's given me.
