While driving this AM, I heard on Air 1 Radio that this week is International Screen Free Week. After hearing the report and the deejay discussions, it totally makes sense to me. In fact, just yesterday, while at lunch with some really close friends, I discussed with one, "where can i get my hands on a Sprint flip phone? I want to eliminate the distractions for a while!"
So this week, as a family (Peter, Theresa, Fisher & Ian) we are putting down and/or not using these screen devices; tablets, computers, phone apps, TV's, video games, and such...outside of being work/homework related, phone calls, & calendar use (& publicizing our yard sale on Craigslist). For readers: put down the kindle and open a book, for Christians: shut down YouVersion app and pick up a Bible, for social media addicts: shut down those apps and get social.
Good bye social media...which really isn't social anyway. Good bye wasted minutes and hours...hello world. I'm looking forward to the conversations, fun and stuff I get done this week with my family and others as we are intentional on not being slaves to our devices.
Feel free to join...I don't have to know of you are; but it would be nice to hear that others are joining and being intentional. There's only two ways two let me know: call me up or stop me and tell me you're joining too.
We'll be Screen Free till Saturday...at least.
