My wife is the queen of modesty...at least in dress, which I greatly appreciate. In our discussion last night on Relationships, I was reminded of a summer camp event in 2009. While standing in the check out line at wal-mart the perfect storm came together giving me a product that.
Before we left with our church group to go to Orange Beach, AL, Theresa went to the fabric store and bought a bunch of different color samples of swimming suit type fabric, needles and thread. I was a little skeptical about her idea, but supported her efforts...not knowing how the young ladies would react to her suggestion.
She suggested to many of the girls to consider covering up their cleavage and low cut swimsuits. The first day, many of the girls chose to sew on an attachment to the tops of their swimsuits. But to my surprise, the second day, everyone of the girls who had low cut tops sewed such fabric onto their swimsuits. When asked for reasons of Why? They said they were sick of guys looking at their chest before they looked at their eyes, they didn't want to lead guys on, they didn't want to give guys a reason to lust after their bodies, and it made them feel more comfortable (not constantly having to tug their top up).
Trip Lee, a christian who is in the hip hop music industry, challenges through his lyrics for guys to make a covenant with their eyes not to look lustfully upon a woman.
Though the photo above is a funny "As Seen on TV," what would happen if this became the norm. Covering it up? Consider the reasons the girls at the beach gave. Ladies, become a woman of virtue. Dudes, make a covenant with your eyes.
