Well there's probably not really a legend about him, but in my book Jimmy Red is very much legendary. I met Jimmy this summer while providing food for a World Changers team in Little Rock. People who are passionate about what Jesus has done in their life are contagious. Almost every day since meeting Jimmy I have thought about him.
Jimmy is a man who thinks it's strange that people aren't more vocal with their faith. The afternoon i met him, I pulled him off to the side and got a quick lesson on Jimmy Red's method of personal evangelism. I can sum it all up in the word, "Readiness". Jimmy is constantly looking for and taking opportunities to tell others about Jesus, with his little marked up / dirty from all the hands, New Testament.
Jimmy was on the World Changers trip as a leader and site coordinator. But if someone walked by on the street, he would stop working, take a student with him, and enter into a conversation. Often, leading the person into a personal relationship with Christ.
I can't sum it all up here, I can't pour out my experience. All I know is that I am thankful I met a man name Jimmy Red and hope a little of him rubbed off on me.
